The OpEd Process.

I thought that the opinion editorial was interesting. It took a little work, but I think it turned out well. The peer review worried me a bit, and going to the writing lab was tough but the end product was much better than what it would have been. Usually I write my papers the night before they are due and I only have one draft. This process helped me see how much better my papers can be through other's input and more revision.
My paper could have been better with more time and if I had done more drafts. I feel as though this was not my best paper, but it is one of the better ones... I look forward to using these techniques on my other papers.

Peer Review!

At first I thought that the whole peer review thing would be terrible. I always get nervous when someone reads my work, but today was different. I knew that it was supposed to help my paper, so I was more open to the peer review. It was super useful hearing what my partner had to say, and she was really nice about the mistakes I made. It also helped me think about new insights that I can use to develop my paper more.

The Best Nights Ever.

Girls' night. This is a night craved by girls and a night that everyone needs. It is a wonderful time filled with nail polish, popcorn, romantic comedies, and wishing that boys really acted like they are portrayed in romantic comedies.
A week ago I had a girls' night with my friend Tate. We watched The Notebook, painted our nails, and ate pasta. I'll admit that we both cried a lot during the movie, but it isn't because we are silly girls; it is because we felt involved. As a girl, I love a movie that appeals to my emotions. I am sure that because we feel so connected with the characters women in general can't help but shed a tear. . . . Plus we want our lives to be one big romantic comedy. Am I right?!

OpEd Purpose Statement

So I am thinking that I will go with mediocrity in today's society. The audience that I am shooting for is America's working class, around 16-65 years old. My purpose is to show my audience the lack of pride in one's work.

There are quite a few things that can go wrong when people lose interest in their workmanship. People are more interested in how to get the optimal amount of cash instead of customer satisfaction. Loss of integrity is part of the problem. There used to be a time, in this country, where citizen's would put heart into their work (not literally of course).

I decided to upload a picture of blown glass because glass blowing is something that takes great craftsmanship, time, and dedication.

Brainstorm...

I couldn't think of a clever title, so I added pictures :). I was thinking that for the OE my topic could be about mediocrity in our society. The art of "settling". Nowadays people don't take pride in what they do. They settle for what is easiest and not what could be more rewarding.

Maybe that or how movies and novels have distorted the perception of what love is or how relationships should be. There has always been a romanticized view of love, but some films and books have taken this to the extreme. These are just some thoughts. Any suggestions?

A Little Post About Me.

Before I tell you where I want to do with my life, I will start with where I have been. I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have lived in Henderson, Nevada since I was one year old. I have four sisters and four brothers-in-law. I have two beautiful nieces and two handsome nephews. I love them more than anything, and I spoil them to no end.
Although I am not the brightest bulb, my family happens to be brilliant. My parents have always encouraged me to attend college and to pursue a career I would enjoy. My sisters and parents have been great examples to me. They have all attended BYU and I am proud to finally say that I am a cougar!
I don't know exactly what I am doing with my life, but I want my years to be filled with service. I can see myself in different countries helping those in need. I also know I will keep learning even after I graduate. I love learning new things and that will never change.
